AFROFLORIDA Media Collective is our new initiative — a place for Black and Brown documentary and Florida-based filmmakers to connect.
Our first filmmaking effort has been a co-production between PDAP and DreamMakerz Productions, kicking off the series FOR THE CULTURE TAMPA BAY. Check out the first edit:
For The Culture Tampa Bay interviews filmmaker, activist, and community leader Jabaar Edmond. Edmond shares history on the Gas Plant neighborhood and Tropicana Field, the historic erasure of a community that existed there prior to the ball field’s construction, and current work around the “Smell Something, Say Something” campaign to bring environmental justice to the Childs Park neighborhood, which sits across from a fuel recycling plant.
